Students do better with STEM Sims
Research
STEM Sims are research-based. That's important because of the learning gains achieved by STEM Sims users. Studies conducted under NSF, NIH, DHS, and continuing projects clearly demonstrate that students do better with STEM Sims.
Results
STEM Sims have been shown to be effective in improving STEM knowledge. Over 2,000 students nationally participated in pre- and post-assessments of STEM Sims. Students have shown significant achievement gains of 30% on tests measuring student understanding of core STEM topics. For example, Florida students went from an average pre-test score of 73.2% to a post-test score of 90.4% after they used the Data Analysis simulation. The tests covered experimental design factors such as independent and dependent variables. In another study conducted in Maryland, students improved their pre-test to post-test scores by more than 45% after they used the Calorimetry module.
Review
Students and teachers alike reported that STEM Sims are engaging and highly useful tools to deeply study STEM topics. We continue to gather more data, so if you'd like to contribute to our research, please email us at support@stemsims.com. It's easy, online, and sometimes even pays money! We look forward to hearing from you.
